Crazy Quotes...

The girls were crazy yesterday, not following rules, hyper, not listening...we usually talk about how well behaved the girls are for the most part. Maybe this was God's way of keeping us from being so prideful of it! Lily had already been in trouble for jumping on the furniture, pushing Harper, hitting Lacy and just being a crazy girl, so we sat down for a conversation.

Me, "Lily, why are you having such a hard time following rules today?"
Lily, shrugs her shoulders.
Me, "Lily, I need you to use your words and talk to Mommy so we can help you follow the rules. Now, why are you having such a rough day following the rules?"
Lily, "Because following the rules is not very much fun"

While she does have a point since jumping on the furniture and being wild is way more fun, I did explain her to why we have rules, blah blah blah. Can't help but agree with her some days...

And Lacy said...

And Lacy contributed this to the conversation..."But we just get so hungry in the nightime..."

Sneaky sisters!

We've been dealing with some sneakiness lately, mostly instigated and led by the leader of our gaggle of girls, Lily. Most of it is sneaking snacks, treats, taking things in their room or the playroom that are not allowed like markers, etc. We're trying to explain that sneaking is just like lying, etc., the good thing is they're not very good at it yet and we're really hoping that this continues through the teen years OR that they really start tattling on eachother. Tonight, the girls went up to their room rather quietly, closed the door and were very quiet while in their room...always a danger sign. I figured they had snuck stickers in there since I had just told them they could not take their stickers in their room so headed up there to check it out. It didn't take very long after I asked them what they were doing for Lily to say, "We have food under our beds" and out came the box of ritz bitz and graham crackers. Then, after they handed over the evidence, Lily informed me, "That's all the sneaky we have" AAAAAHHHH! Needless to say, they are NOT getting their bedtime snack tonight and got a lecture from Daddy which is always much more effective than mine.

Lacy's Sweetness

Tucking the girls in for nap, well it's not a nap when they're in the same room but anyway...gave Lacy a kiss, gave Lily a kiss and Lily thinks it's funny to wipe hers off. Lacy says, "What happens if you wipe off your kiss mommy?". I didn't have a fast answer but Lacy answered for me and said, "You'll just have to keep giving me mo and mo kisses". My sweet girl...I always try and make a special effort to let her have something first or make sure she answers my questions instead of Lily. She demands so little of our time & attention most days with her sweet self that I never want to short change her.

Funny Lily Quote

I've been jotting down funny stuff that the girls say so when I finally did make time to blog I would add it...

Sitting on the couch hanging out with the girls, out of the blue, Lily says very seriously, "Mommy, do you know what you should never ever do?"

"Lily, what should you never ever do?" I respond.

"You should NEVER EVER put your hand in a fox's mouth" she replies.

She's right, you probably shouldn't put your hand in a fox's mouth. One life lesson down, a million to go.

Three weeks to go!

This pregnancy has seemed so long as they all do but I know the next three weeks will fly by and I'll say, "That really went by fast" Trying to get as much done as possible before Haley's arrival but there's only so much you can do to prepare your home & self for having another baby. We've had a bad case of the snotty noses & whinies the past 10 days but are hopefully on the other side of it. Harper has been soooo high maintenance & clingy...makes me a wee bit nervous since I know I won't be able to lift her for a few weeks.

Harper is into EVERYTHING, I had forgotten how messy and destructive one year olds are even though it wasn't that long ago that we had 1 year olds! Cabinets are emptied, garbage is dug through, the toilet is played in, macaroni noodles dumped on floor. She's also crazy smart even though I may be a wee bit bias...I usually do Lily & Lacy's hair while I sit on the steps since we have hair bows and brushes in the basket right there. The other day, Harper gets the brush out of the basket and backs up to me while I was sitting there like, "My turn!". Jason put together Haley's crib and the mattress was out of it, he picked up the mattress to put it back in and while he did that, Harper went and got a new sheet out of the drawer. She's also learned how to run...from me. This happened because I had to wipe her nose a million times a day, she turned it into a game. She kind of runs like a penguin with her arms behind her and her belly pushed out..sooo funny to watch.

Lacy Jane is sweet as ever, sensitive as ever and still the biggest hoarder in the family. Oh, the things we find behind her bed. Magazines, pictures, hairbows, lots of puppies from her "collection", an egg carton, crafts. Even though my Lacy is soft spoken and sensitive, she doesn't let Lily push her around. I'll hear her tell Lily, "Don't you ever do that again, don't you ever take that from me ever again!" She was also arguing with Lily the other day saying Daddy is NOT pretty because he's a boy.

Lily is still our girl gang leader & probably will be for a long time. She's getting such a little sense of humor especially around potty talk. I laughed at something Jason said the other day, Lily asked, "What did Daddy say that was funny?", I told her it was grown up stuff. She said, "Was it potty talk?" I said, No and potty talk isn't funny. She replied, "You know it is funny" Jason said she had a point.
