Spoke too soon

I just mentioned to a few people how lucky we've been because we've had like no sickness in our house over the last few months. So, of course Lily gets sick this week and here's some of her quotes over the past few days. I swear, I'll never know if Lily has a ruptured appendix or she bumped her toe because the DRAMA is probably about equal.
"This is the worst day of my life"
"My throat feels so nauseous"
"Here Mommy, here's my bowl of throw up" this was said at 3 in the morning after she walks downstairs with the bowl of vomit and wakes me to give me it.
"Harper keeps staring at me"
"Can I eat pepperonis on the couch?"
"Can you hand me my drink?" her drink is literally two inches from her hand.
And this is my favorite...went to take a shower this morning and I told Lily to have Harper come get me if she really needed me. While I have shampoo on my hair, Harper runs in and tells me Lily really needs me so I grab a towel and run out to the living room AND
"Mommy I'm feeling so much better!" Awesome Lil.

Empty Chair

One night at dinner, Jason mentioned we should be at the head of the table and then two girls on each side since right now we each sit next to one of the little girls to help. Well, actually I never sit for long but ANYWAY. He said this to the girls and here's how it went:
"Mommy & Daddy should sit at the head of the table since we're the leaders"
Lacy, "But we have an empty chair"
Lily, "We should get another sister to go in that chair"
Jason, "Where are we going to get another sister?"
Lily, "We should just adopt a new sister from...Gurnee Mills"
Gurnee Mills is a MALL! We cracked up. Several people we know are doing international adoption so I guess Lily thinks you can also pick up some kids at the mall too.

Never lonely Harper

It has been snowing ALL day and Jason is out of town and Lily had a birthday party to go to tonight that she did not want to miss soooooo I dragged everybody out in their snowboots to drop off and pick her up. I told the girls to please not talk to Mommy so I could focus on keeping everybody safe.
Harper, "Mommy, what can I find?" We play a game when we go places for her to find stuff like a brown tree, a green sign, etc.
Me, "Harper, please don't talk to Mommy right now, I need to drive"
Harper, "Well, who can I talk to?"
Me, "Talk to Lacy"
Lacy, " I don't want to talk to her"
Harper, "That's Ok, I can just talk to myself" And she did.

Funnies

Harper woke up yesterday this morning and said (while waving her little finger around) "I just want you to know that I'm going to be running a little late today" Great, Harper, I'll plan accordingly.

On our way to speech yesterday, an ambulance went by and the girls asked where it was going.
"Well, someone is probably hurt or sick and needs to get to the hospital really fast"
Lily, "Or somebody killed somebody"
Me, "Umm...maybe. I hope not"
Lacy, "or they got burned up"
Me, "Could be"
Lily, "Bad luck for them"

On our way home from speech, Lacy was telling me all the gymnastics stuff she did in gym at school.
Lacy "I'm pretty brave to do all stuff"
Lily, "I'm not. I'm not very brave cause I'm scared of everything like I'm scared of tarantulas and dinosaurs and...mammals"

Lily's bathroom countdown

Every other Monday I go to sewing class & although I'm still learning from my awesome sewing teacher Deidre, it's also a great night out for me! Getting ready to leave the other, head to the bathroom and two seconds later I hear Lily yelling for me (hello, how many times have I told them, DON'T YELL FOR ME, JUST COME FIND ME!) I yell back, I'm in the bathroom. She of course comes in the bathroom, standing right on the other side of the door and says,
"When will you be done?"
"Two minutes Lil, just give me two minutes?"
"That's 120 seconds, I can count for you"
"You don't need to count"
"1, 2, 3, 4........and on until 117"
And I came out at 117.

Lily...the next American Idol

Lily loves to sing and loves to sing loudly. During the Christmas season, there were plenty of opportunities for her to practice her skills. Here's what Lily has to say about her singing...

"Mom, know how I sound just like the girl on the CD?"
"How?"
"Well, I put my singing skills and whistling skills together and that's why"

AND
"You can't even really hear the girl singing on the CD because I sound JUST like her"

Here's a little sampling of thos SKILLS!

December 2011...in pictures!

Haley Mae giving Lacy some love during dinner
And Lily giving Harper some love so I would take her picture
Singing the "I'm a daisy girl scout, happy as can be, I'm a daisy girl scout, happy as can be" at their Girl Scout Investiture ceremony
Kind of blurry because Lacy couldn't contain her excitement when she saw an "American Doll" box
Lily getting her daisy pin @ Girl Scouts.
Need to rotate this picture but this is the card Lily made for my Grandma to give her at my Grandpa's funeral. She is unbelievably thoughtful and empathetic for a 6 year old!
Although we were traveling for a sad occasion. this did not take away from the fact the girls were sooooo excited to stay at a hotel! Lacy's silly mad face.
Last day of Christmas break, chilling out at the mall with some cookies!
Harper & Haley being monkeys and climbing on the shower...weirdos!
Haley in motion at the jump place
Harper climbing up the BIG one
Haley hitching a ride on Lily's plasma car
Lacy's actually rubbing Haley's head not yanking her hair!
Much better! Could have been a Christmas card pic but...was taken on Christmas Eve!
Haley's favorite Christmas present, a new toothbrush. She loves to brush her teeth...
Haley staring at Grant like she's never seen a boy before
Cuties
Harper hardly ever naps but she was worn out when we got home from Kentucky.
Notice the big girls have a game going on and so do the little ones
Love this picture of Jason & his girls all playing Operation
The ginormous dollhouse...love it!

Family Goals

Each year we like to set family goals and I wanted to make sure that these are in writing so we can't NOT do them!

Read the girls Bible each night, including doing the praying for the world project
Get the girls on a regular chore/commission schedule
Once a month date nights for us
Serving others as a family
Eat out once a week

My personal goals:
Be consistent with diet/excercise
Spend less time cleaning/more time playing
Read at least one nonfiction book a month
Find a serving opportunity at church
Stick to my household budget need vs. want
Continue to get rid of processed food in our house

New Funnies

Here's some funnies we've heard around the house recently:

Jason & I now have iphones and of course Lily thinks they're super cool so she's been asking me when she can have a phone. I said "when you have a job that can pay for it" She says, "But I have "save" money" (girls piggy banks divided into save, spend and tithe). I said "Well, a phone costs money every month so you would have to have a job for that" and she then told me, "But Mom, my job is going to school and Girl Scouts" True Lily but those don't pay very well!

I was putting away laundry in our closet yesterday, Harper came in our bathroom, didn't see me in the closet. She climbs up on the stepstool and I see her waving her arms in grand fashion saying to the mirror, "I am Queen Harper Joy Joy, princess of the Earth" Like I didn't already know that!

Lacy brought home a note she had typed up during computer time at school. It was a note to her beloved teacher, it said Ms. Foster, I ms you wn I go hm. Why doesn't she type a note for me that says, Mommy, I miss you when I'm at school?????

Lily, after she took inventory of her Santa presents says, "Wow, I got like a million present. I got everything I wanted....well, almost everything."

Harper ended up in my bed most nights in Kentucky, most times she would say, "I so scared" but when I told her, "No, you're not scared, you have your sisters" she then said, "yeah, I just want to hang out with you" The problem with sleeping with Harper is that she likes to sleep with her head on my throat OR my favorite is when she climbs on my back like a koala bear and expects me to sleep that way. One morning, I was slow getting out of bed and Harper says, "Why you taking so long?" I said, "because you sleep like a crazy lady and I didn't get much sleep" Harper then shakes her head and says, "Well, that is not a problem"

This morning @ the breakfast table, I told the girls that we needed to make some birthday cards for Thomas because his birthday is coming up. They asked how old he was going to be, I said, 3, like Harper. Lily's immediate reply was, "Now he & Harper can get married!!!!!" I said, No, you can't marry your cousin. and Lily said, "That means I can't marry Trey????" Yes, that's what that means.
